Movement Standards

The Catalyst Games are founded and produced by the team at Fortitude Fitness - CrossFit 78702. In 2015, the gym decided to host the first ever mock-CrossFit Games competition complete with a 2 mile paddle on Lady Bird Lake followed by a 2 mile run at Austin High, and that was just day one. The following two days were filled with epic WOD recreations, PR lifts, torture on aerodynes and rope climbs, and countless memories for athletes and spectators. 

In its second year, the format will be switched to team-based WODs, with a goal of bringing over 200 athletes together for this EPIC adventure.

Advanced Workout

1800m run with litter
100 Worm push presses
300 chest-to-bar pull-ups
100 Worm squats
1800m run with litter

  • Teams must carry the litter below the shoulder.

  • All athletes must run with the litter.

  • Teams will rotate which member is being carried in the litter every 300m.

  • Push press must start with the worm all on same shoulder and must finish on the opposite shoulder. No lockout required.

  • Each athlete will complete 30 chest-to-bar pull-ups and then each member must complete 20 chest-to-bar pull-ups. Once an athlete begins their set, another athlete cannot begin theirs until that athlete is complete. The athlete must begin with the elbows fully extended. The chest must physically touch the bar below the collarbone. 

  • The athletes must all be on the same side of the worm while squatting. All 6 athletes must begin the squat with the hips and knees fully extended. All 6 athletes must squat below parallel with the crease of the hips below the knees. They must all return to the standing position with hips and knees extended for the repetition to count. 

Intermediate Workout

100 Synchro Push Presses (3 barbells: 115, 75, & 55)

  • Pull-ups can be broken up any way the team wants. The pull-up must begin with the elbows extended and end with the chin breaking the plane of the bar. Kipping and butterfly pull-ups are acceptable.

  • During the back squat, any 3 team members can be on any barbell. The back squats can be broken up any way the team wants as long as they complete 100 total synchro reps. All athletes must begin the squat with hips and knees fully extended at the same time. All athletes must be in the bottom of the squat with the crease of the hip below the knee at the same time. All 3 athletes must all return to the standing position with hips and knees extended for the repetition to count.

  • For the Clean-and-jerk, only two males and two females can be on the apparatus at a time. It does not matter which ones or how many repetitions they complete. The apparatus begins on the ground for each rep. It must be picked up and stop on one shoulder. Then, it must be lifted and stop on the opposite shoulder for the repetition to count.

  • For the shuttle sprint, the apparatus starts on the ground at the starting line. All 6 athletes will be on the apparatus – 3 on one side and 3 on the other.  Pick up the apparatus and sprint 50m to the designated mark. The entire apparatus must cross the line and then be placed on the ground. Turn around pick it up again and sprint another 50m. You will do this until 300m are complete.
